Poverty Reduction in Africa
- An International Conference -
Organised under the auspices of the
project
"Capacity Building on Competition Policy in Select
Countries of Eastern and Southern Africa (7Up3
Project)"
March 29-30, 2007, Mauritius
CUTS International
is organising a two day international conference
on 'Competition Policy, Private Sector Development
and Poverty Reduction in Africa', as the
culmination of a two year research based advocacy
project, popularly referred to as the 7Up3
Project, on 29-30 March 2007, Mauritius. The
conference is being co-hosted by the Ministry of
Industry, Small & Medium Enterprises, Commerce &
Cooperatives, Government of Mauritius.
The meeting would
discuss the realisation of the two-year that this
project has been implemented for. It would also
trace the path forward towards implementing
competition regimes in the project countries by
identifying the weaknesses that need to be
addressed. The deliberations would facilitate an
enriched and interactive exchange of varied
experiences on competition policy and law, which
would be linked to the wider policy context of
economic development and poverty reduction in the
region.
Participants would
include representatives from civil society
organisations, academicians, experts, regional
authorities and competition practitioners from
within the region and outside.
