Regional Training Workshop on Competition Policy and Law

Pursuing the training and capacity development mandate of the seven-country regional competition policy project (Capacity Building on Competition Policy in Select Countries of Eastern and Southern Africa), CUTS is organising a training workshop on competition policy and law in Pretoria on 15-17 February 2007.

The workshop being organised by CUTS Institute for Regulation and Competition (CIRC, www.circ.in) and held in partnership with Institute for Global Dialogue (www.igd.org.za), South Africa would deal with competition administration issues. Representatives of young competition authorities of the region would be primary targets for this workshop along with officials from relatively older competition authorities from other parts of the continent. Trade and Commerce Ministry officials from countries that are in the process of evolving new competition regimes would also participate. Such a mix would facilitate the process of cross-fertilisation of ideas among these competition professionals, and enrich the discourse. A total of 25-30 participants from approximately 15 countries are expected to participate.

Resource persons would comprise of academicians and experienced practitioners from the region and outside with years of expertise on competition administration issues.
