  • Ujjwal Kumar participated in 1st World Congress on Access to Medical Product and International Laws for Trade and Health (in the context of 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development), held in New Delhi from 21 to 23 November 2017.

  • Ankit Pingle represented CUTS in the Regional Inclusive Growth (Diginomics -I) Project launch at Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines on October 25, 2017. The conference was titled: "The Digital Economy: Potential Benefits, Challenges, and Implications for Regulations". He shared the growth of Digital Economy, the overall impact of the digital platforms, and its benefits on the last mile consumers in India. He also drew a comparison and opportunities for growth by cross-learning between the two countries.

  • Rahul Singh participated in a seminar organised by Wadhwani Foundation in Vivekananda Global University, Jaipur on October 27, 2017, which was part of the 'Road to GES' series to promote the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) 2017 to be held later next month.

  • Amol Kulkarni and Parveer Singh Ghuman organised and participated in a roundtable discussion on the topic: "Optimal Access to Financial Infrastructure for Sustainable Growth of Digital Financial Services" at the Digital Citizen Summit 2017. The Summit was organised by the Digital Empowerment Foundation at the India Habitat Center, New Delhi from 21st to 22nd September 2017.

  • Priyam Purohit participated in the 'Banker's Workshop on Financing of Renewable Energy' organised by SELCO Foundation, National Bank of Agricultural and Rural Development (NABARD) and State Bank of India (SBI) in Udaipur on August 4, 2017. The aim of the workshop was to develop the capacity of bankers, financiers and policy makers on lending for Decentralised Clean Energy.

  • Arpit Tiwari participated in 9th India Coal Summit organised by Indian Chamber of Commerce in Delhi on 29 June 2017. CUTS International was the Knowledge Partner for the event. He was panellist for the session on Demand – Supply Gap in Energy Requirement and Coal Production. He made a presentation on “Coal Sector in India – Analysing from the lens of Competition and Regulatory Architecture”. He covered issues like dominant position of government controlled mining companies and allocation of captive coal blocks, and analysing the need to establish a Regulatory body for the coal sector in India.   • Priyam Purohit attended Solar Roofs India 2017 Conference organised by Solar Quarter and Rajasthan Solar Association on June 14th, 2017 in Jaipur. It is a pan-India Business to Consumer conference that focused on latest technology advancements ,business strategies and current financial models in the Rooftop Solar Industry.

  • Amol Kulkarni participated in roundtable jointly organised by Indira Gandhi Institute for Development Research and PayPal in Mumbai on 14 June 2017 on the subject: “Competition in the Payments Industry”. He made a presentation on relationship between consumer welfare and competition in the sector. He covered issues like access, quality and cost of digital payments, and highlighted impact on consumer welfare as a result of increase in competition in the sector in other jurisdictions.   • Ujjwal Kumar participated in the 7th St. Petersburg International Legal Forum, held during 16-20 May 2017 at St. Petersburg, Russia. He also made a presentation in a session titled “Global mergers in the food sector and competition law and policy”.

  • Amol Kulkarni participated in a roundtable discussion organised by Observer Research Foundation in Mumbai on 03 May 2017 on the subject: “Future of Urban Mobility”. He spoke the need for regulatory reforms, level playing field and need to use tools like regulatory impact assessment for ensuring technological developments result in consumer welfare.

  • Amol Kulkarni participated in conference organised by US-India Business Council in Delhi on 29 March 2017 on the subject: “Accelerating Digital Payments and Deepening Financial Inclusion”. He was panellist for the session on Last Mile Connectivity for Maximising Consumer Access. He spoke about challenges faced by consumers in making digital payments, and the need for optimal competition and regulation in the sector to sustain growth of digital payments.

  • Amol Kulkarni participated in a workshop organised by the National Council for Applied Economic Research in Delhi on 27 February 2017 on the subject: “Building Synergies: Matching Business Reforms to Improved ‘Ease of Doing Business”. He presented the findings of CUTS’ project on Competitiveness in North Indian States, and highlighted bottlenecks on ease of doing business related reforms initiated by different states.   • Amol Kulkarni participated in a roundtable organised by Observer Research Foundation in Delhi on 03 February 2017 on the subject: “Securing Digital Payments: Imperatives for a Growing Ecosystem”. He spoke on regulation making process, consumer concerns with respect to digital security, and role of non-state actors in finding the right regulatory balance on the subject.

He intervened in discussions covering issues like online authentication and user privacy.
