Launches VCCC

The CCP has
launched a Voluntary Competition Compliance Code (VCCC) scheme,
with the objective of creating awareness and understanding by
firms of competition law in Pakistan. Companies signing up to the
VCCC will have to establish internal compliance policy, appoint
compliance officers, and train and educate employees about
compliance. In return, those who adopt the VCCC will benefit from
lenient treatment and a reduction in penalties for competition

Consumers. The agency will assume the responsibilities of both the

Legislative Council on July 14, 2010. The bill will cover
collusive behaviour and concerted practices as well as abuse of
dominant positions. It will not, however, introduce merger
controls, leaving open the question of whether mergers could be
