Trade competition law needs more work

needs to revise the Trade Competition Act to make it more
effective in terms of enforcement and on par with competition laws
of Asean countries, says the Thai Chamber of Commerce. Thailand
has had a competition law for 11 years but there has never been a
single prosecution, because no one can agree on basic definitions

applying double standards in the implementation of its antitrust
law to discriminate against foreign firms, a senior Ministry of
Commerce official said. Some international critics have raised
suspicions that China is using the 2008 anti-monopoly law to block

Competition Law in Malaysia

Competition Act 2010 has been gazetted on June 10, 2010 and is
expected to be implemented in January 2012. It provides a legal
framework for curtailing anti-competitive practices in Malaysia
and applies to any commercial activity within Malaysia and outside
of Malaysia insofar as the activity was transacted outside
Malaysia but which has an effect on market competition in
