Launch
of pilot project on Business Regulation and
Corporate Conduct
April 21, 2011, New Delhi, India
CUTS
through its various interventions aspires to make
economic progress in India, efficient, inclusive and
responsible. It is our endeavour to create an
environment and capacity in India to foster growth
that is hurdle-less and well integrates elements of
sustainable development. It is with this goal in
mind that CUTS has launched the ‘EXPLORING THE
INTERPLAY BETWEEN BUSINESS REGULATION AND CORPORATE
CONDUCT IN INDIA’ (BRCC Project). The main goal
of this project is to explore ways in which
industrial promotion or business development can be
undertaken in the country in a sustainable manner,
so that the benefits (economic, environmental and
equitable) accrue to the society at large.
The first
activity of this project was to gather inputs
from various stakeholders of how business
development and corporate conduct can co-exist in
India. These aspects was discussed at a meeting
held in New Delhi on 21st April 2011.
Scholars, practitioners and specialists from India
and abroad presented their views on various elements
of business regulation/development, corporate
governance and responsible business conduct in this
event.
